My boys, in the present world in which we live, it’s somewhat important you understand what separates conservatives from liberals. In the end, this is not our world, of course, but Christ has called us to be good stewards in all we do. This includes citizenship.
Of the current schools of political thought and theory, conservatism best represents us. So it is important you understand what conservatism is all about.
First, conservatives understand that their is a higher authority. There is a being we are ultimately responsible to for our actions, thoughts, and deeds. Because of this, we conduct ourselves accordingly. We do unto others as we would expect them to do unto us. We hope for the best in people while understanding that we fail often as well. We do right because it is right, not because we are rewarded.
Liberals, on the other hand, look to themselves as their own higher power. They know better than others and it is their own goodness that resides in themselves that prompts them to save others from themselves. They also resent other people telling them what to do. If we do not understand their reasons for doing what they do, they demand we just “trust them” as they know what they’re doing. They are not accountable to anyone or anything other than themselves.
If you understand this, you will understand much about how the world works.
